KARACHI: The May Cup figures prominently in a five-race card drawn for the Gymkhana race meeting that resumes after a three-week layoff at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

The May Cup, a scale order III, IV and V combined race to be contested over four-and-a-half furlongs, will see seven horses vying for the honours. It is the fourth and supporting race of the day’s programme.

Altogether, 29 horses have entered the day’s races barring any last-minute withdrawal.

All the races will be run over four-and-a-half furlongs.

It is pertinent to mention that the races could not take place for three successive Sunday’s due to outbreak of equine flu in the stables.

“Ninety percent horses have been recovered from the disease after undergoing medication and rest,” a spokesman for the Karachi Race Club told Dawn on Saturday.
