SARGODHA, Aug 2: Friction between the district administration and local traders over imposition of new taxes is growing day by day, as both the parties have refused to show flexibility to resolve the dispute.

Information gleaned by this correspondent on Saturday revealed that neither the district government was willing to relax the taxation policy nor were the traders ready to accept the new taxes. The traders have warned that they will go on a strike, if the local government remains stuck to its decision.

The government, which was about to notify the new proposed taxes on various items on July 21, failed to follow the plan because of the traders’ resistance.

The traders maintain that they have already been paying various taxes to the tehsil municipal administration, so, there is no justification of levying new taxes.

MONITORING CELL: The government has set up a monitoring cell here to be supervised by the district coordination officer to control crime in the district.

The first meeting of the cell was held on Friday in which convener, DCO Hassan Iqbal Malik, and other officials reviewed the crime situation.

The general public has been informed to file its complaints with secretary Tariq Mahmood or dial 9230200 and 9230160.
