KARACHI: City Council session ends

Published August 3, 2003

KARACHI Aug 2: The session of City Council, on Saturday, was called off due to the lack of quorum.

The session, which was called off soon after its beginning at 4.00pm, was aimed at discussing issues like uniform lease rates for slum areas and exemption of journalists from the charged parking.

The members of Al-Khidmat group criticized the demand of Al- Khadim group to call off the session. They said that in the current situation, after heavy rainfall, it was the need of the hour to discuss the rain-related issues.

However, the members of Al-Khadim group said that the demand was according to the law, as the session could not be continued without the required quorum.—PPI
