KARACHI, July 2: Sindh has become the first province of the country to release Rs1,877.466 million in July for development schemes to be executed in current fiscal.

The Provincial Finance Department has released nearly 50 per cent of the amount of total outlays for the ongoing development schemes at the provincial and district levels.

Traditionally, the first instalment of this amount used to be released by the month of September. Moreover, the finance department this time has provided the funds by hand to responsible officers.

Minister for Planning and Development Syed Shoaib Bokhari has commended the prompt release of funds. In his letter to the Finance Minister, Sardar Ahmed, he stated that handing over of the amount as time-cutting measure will augur well for the development schemes at district level.

Following is the break up of fund amount with recipients: Rs791.810 million for the provincial development works, Karachi: Rs176.476 million, Hyderabad: Rs123.036 million, Dadu: Rs63.325 million, Thatta: Rs68.024 million, Badin: Rs27.473 million, Mirpurkhas: Rs72.937 million, Sanghar: Rs70.938 million, Thar: Rs53.280 million, Sukkur: Rs10.305 million, Nawabshah: Rs30.832 million, Naushahro Feroz: Rs40.504 million, Khairpur: Rs58.627 million, Ghotki: Rs99.853 million, Larkana: Rs96.080 million, Shikarpur: Rs40.351 million and Jacobabad: Rs53.606 million.—PPI
