Two ‘POs’ killed in encounter

MULTAN, Jan 3: Two ‘proclaimed offenders’ were killed in an encounter with police in Jallalpur Peerwala, some 60km from here, on Thursday.

A police mobile tried to intercept two motorcyclists near Alipur Mor, but they accelerated the speed. Near Kutchi Abadi, they opened fire on the police party. When the police returned the fire, both the motorcyclists sustained bullet injuries. One of them died instantly, while the other succumbed to his injuries at the rural health centre.

They were later identified as Rafiq and Ashiq Husain who were involved in many dacoities in Jallalpur Peerwala, Shujabad and Basti Malook, the police claimed. —NOUMAN
