KARACHI: The Foreign Office said on Tuesday that Uzma — an Indian citizen who reportedly came to Pakistan to marry a man but “went missing” last week after visiting the Indian High Commission in Islamabad — would be repatriated only after all legal requirements were completed.
Foreign Office spokesman Nafees Zakaria told DawnNews that Uzma’s case was being heard in a court and that she would only be able to return to her country once all the legal requirements were completed.
He added that India’s Ministry of External Affairs had requested the Foreign Office to furnish details to it about Uzma’s marriage to a man hailing from Buner, Tahir Ali.
Uzma, 20, had sought refuge at the Indian High Commission last week and reportedly expressed her desire to be repatriated, claiming that she only came to know after her nikah had been solemnised that Ali was already married and had four children.

During the court hearing on Monday, Uzma alleged that Ali had forced her to enter into a marriage contract at gunpoint and subsequently subjected her to physical and sexual abuse.
He also seized her documents, she claimed, adding that she was not under any pressure while recording her statement.
