Man gunned down in Pindi

RAWALPINDI: A man was gunned down by two unidentified motorcycle riders near the Holy Family Hospital (HFH) on Sunday, police said.

Waqas Ahmed, who operated a private taxi, received a phone call from a passenger and left for Block E in Satellite Town to pick him up.

When he reached near HFH, he was intercepted by two motorcyclists who pulled him out and fired shots at him, killing him on the spot. The gunmen later sped away.

Asif Mehmood, uncle of the deceased, told New Town police that his nephew did not have any enmity. Police ruled out the possibility of robbery as nothing was found missing from the victim.

Meanwhile, a woman doctor was robbed of cash and gold jewellery by two unidentified motorcycle riders outside a shopping centre at Rehmanabad on Sunday.

The woman was walking with her husband and sister towards their car when they were intercepted by two motorcycle riders who snatched her purse and sped off. The purse containing Rs45,000, two earrings and some documents.
