MUZAFFARABAD, Jan 3: The special grant provided by President Gen Pervez Musharraf for Azad Kashmir uplift will be equally distributed among 28 constituencies of the AJK.

This was decided here on Thursday at a high-level meeting presided over by AJK President Sardar Mohammad Anwar Khan. Legislative Assembly Speaker Sardar Siab Khalid, Local Government and Rural Development (LG&RD) Minister Raja Nisar Ahmed, Chief Secretary Naeem Ahmed and other officials attended the meeting.

Mr Musharraf had announced Rs50 million grant for the development of Azad Kashmir. The amount will be spent on the recommendation of the legislators concerned.

The meeting also discussed the schemes submitted to the LG&RD department by the legislative assembly members. The president okayed some of the plans and directed immediate start of work on them. He asked the department to review other schemes, which he had rejected, in consultation with the members concerned.
