NAWABSHAH, Jan 3: At least 13 water channels including Daro, Kandi, Sardarabad, Chotko, Jam Leghari, Dago, Kranghro, Khiyron, Dhoronaro, Panjo Chan, Jhemal, Nawaz Dahri, and Chan Babu have not been provided water from the Gujra Wah since a month as a result of which 30 per cent Rabi crops including wheat have been destroyed.
The Gujra Wah branch also provides drinking water to nine tanks of Nawabshah District. At the moment four tanks were lying empty while five tanks contained only two feet of water which was insufficient.
The irrigation department staff concerned have completely opened the gates of the 54-mile cross regulator of the Nusrat Branch five days prior to its annual closure to provide water to some influential landlords.
The gates of the regulator, which provides water to Gujra Wah, were opened on Tuesday night.
SEWAGE: The people of Nawabshah are facing many problems due to the sewerage system collapsing.
Sewage can be seen overflowing in a large portion of the city. The authorities concerned have totally failed in cleaning it up.
Recently an amount of one million rupees was approved by the taluka council, Nawabshah, for repairing the drainage system.
JUDGE: The district and sessions court, Nawabshah, has been without a judge for a couple of weeks.
The post has been lying vacant since the transfer of the district and sessions court judge, Nawabshah, Mir Khair M. Talpur.
The people of Sakrand, Daulatpur, Qazi Ahmed and Nawabshah are facing problems as several cases remain pending.
