ISLAMABAD July 31: The 10 session of the National Assembly is likely to be summoned on Monday (August 4) as a summary to this affect has already been sent to President Gen Pervez Musharraf, informed sources said.

Deputy parliamentary leader of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal Hafiz Hussain Ahmed told Dawn on Thursday after visiting NA Speaker Chaudhry Amir Hussain that he would not rule out the possibility of the next session of the assembly commencing on Monday.

The House will meet at a time when the Government-MMA talks on the Legal Framework Order were continuing. The House is far behind the required number of working days it has to meet in a calender year.

According to rules of business of the lower house, at least 130 working days have to be completed in a calender year. However, due to the continued disruption of the House proceedings by the Opposition, it became impossible for the government to convene the session of the National Assembly to meet this requirement.

However, the ruling Pakistan Muslim League and its allied parties in their recent meeting earlier this week had expressed the determination to take up the legilative business in the coming session no matter how much rumpus the Opposition tried to create.
