QUETTA: Health authorities have sealed 15 clinics, laboratories and medical centres during a campaign against quacks in the Kuchlak area on the outskirts of the provincial capital on Friday.

Official sources said a team of the health department comprising Anwar Mandokhel, Dr Zubair Ahmed and salesman Taj Muhammad Agha carried out the drive against quacks.

The team found quacks running clinics, laboratories and medical centres without having licence and other required documents.

The team sealed Al Shifa Laboratories, Rahim Dental Clinic, Abid Laboratory, Ziarat Clinic, Habib Clinic, Qadeer Clinic, Rasheed Medical Store, Nasarullah Clinic, Bakhtawar Clinic, Al Najeeb Clinic, Sana Clinic, Al Siddique Lady Doctor Clinic, Dr Yaseen Clinic and Medical Store.

“Crackdown has been launched on the directives of the secretary health and the campaign would continue,” said Dr Anwar Mandokhel, who was heading the special team, which conducted raids. He said that government would not allow anyone to play with the human lives at any cost.

He said that the Provincial Chief Secretary Shoaib Mir and Secretary Health Asmatullah Kakar have taken serious notice of running of illegal clinics, laboratories and medical centres by quacks in the outskirts of Quetta and far flung areas of the province.

“Quacks who were found playing with the lives of innocent people would be brought to justice,” said Dr Mandokhel, adding that 15 such clinics, laboratories and medical centres have been sealed and their owners were asked to either produce required documents or face strict legal action.
