Ambassador to the United States (US) Aizaz Chaudhry on Monday presented his credentials to US President Donald Trump at the White House.
Chaudhry, who was named Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States of America mid-February, had taken up his new responsibilities in Washington last month.
While presenting his credentials, the ambassador conveyed Pakistan's best wishes to Trump, who will complete 100 days in office on April 29.
Chaudhry also conveyed that the Pakistani leadership was committed to strengthening friendly relations between Pakistan and the US.
Chaudhry's career as a foreign service officer spans 36 years of multilateral and bilateral experience.
Before being appointed ambassador to the US, Chaudhry had been serving as Pakistan's foreign secretary since December 2013. Before that, he served as the spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry.
In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he served as additional foreign secretary for the United Nations and Disarmament Affairs, and director general of relations with South Asian countries, during which he remained closely associated with the peace process in India.
Chaudhry's other overseas assignments include Pakistan's deputy permanent representative to the UN in New York and a stint as ambassador to the Netherlands.

Not understanding that the US spoiled our leaders to become "international aid seekers" since last so many decades...I do not understand why do we again and again seek US for help. Has our lovely country Pakistan lost the self respect to keep US happy all the time?

It is nice to see Pakistan Ambassador to the US, Mr. Aizaz Chaudhry with President Trump in a smiling face. Hope that, good friendly relations that existed between the two countries from decades will continue to grow. This would be beneficial to both the countries as well as the entire world.

After looking at how Hussian Haqani and Sheri Rehman performed as Ambassadors, he can only do well, during the PPP days this post was filled by incompetent individuals, hopefully a career diplomat will only make this better.

@Sarai alamgir - Ha ha ha. In Washington Hussain Haqqani was ranked as the third most influential ambassador after Israel & Saudi Arabia, as he had an excess to US top political official. Sheri was also very effective. Unfortunately, both toed their party line more than the (deep) state foreign policy. Life here in Washington is very different from Sarai Alamgir.

@ SARAH, J: Whether Haqqani was the third most influential ambassador the the first.. whether Sheri Rehman was effective or killing it, doesn't matter. They didn't represent the state's interest, but that of their political master, and that makes them incompetent for they clearly mis-understood the sacred duty bestowed on them from the people they represented.
Honestly though, what else can be expected if politicians/friends are sent as envoys to such an important capital. Having a veteran career diplomat should be different story than that, hopefully.

@Khalid Irfan Yes deliver your best in the interest of Pakistan. Promote the thought in the Pakistanis in the USA to work together, campaign together and as a result whichever person the community pushes to the top then that person must help other community members to excel as well. Our problem in the USA is that some leaders collect funds from community to excel themselves only and they do not do any thing to help the community to excel together. The day we Pakistanis learn that we as a group are a power then we will become a power.

@BYSTANDER - Career FSOs' are usually there to maintain a 'status quo' of foreign policy of very strong countries. The greatest achievements in US foreign policy towards Pakistan were made by political nominees. The US foreign policy deep roots were planted in early 50's & then mid 60's by US political nominee ambassadors when Pakistan was convinced to become member of CENTO, & SEITO & NATO (Only good for AUS). (One of them was regional head of PEPSI Cola).
Pakistan -US relations are really not achieving anything for Pakistan. Pakistan needs a very dynamic person, probably an expat US businessman who should have contacts & access to Washington political high ups. These career FSO may be made deputy ambassadors to run embassy's administration or do inaugurations. Getting things done is very difficult for FSO & that too of Pakistan. { Mr. Tariq Fateemi, though retired, tells what we have and had in Foreign office].

Very good question! we used to do just that, at one time Faiz Ahmed Faiz was our ambassador to the USSR there is still no dearth of intellectuals and famous people in Pakistan but foreign assignments have become perks.

Did Aizaz Sahib present the President Donald Trump sahib's conversation to PM Nawaz Sharif Sahib, that Pakistanis are most fantastic and terrific people in the world? With such a wonderful endorsement from Trump Sahib, nothing else is required. Rest is a sheer waste of time.

@Khalid Irfan @Sarah, The outgoing ambassador has left the relationship to nearly all-time low. Aitzaz Sahib, please for the nation's sake leave the job, if you feel that you cannot handle. You will still be a grade 22 officer but the country doesn't have many options left now.
