LAHORE, July 30: Punjab will host the inter-provincial games at Lahore in November this year.

This was decided by the Punjab Olympic Association (POA) in its general council meeting held on Wednesday.

POA secretary, Khawaja Idrees Haider, later briefed reporters and  said that the final dates  would be announced shortly, but it would be sometime after Eid-ul-Fitr.

He said that only eight to 10 sports would be included in the games so that all best available facilities could be offered to the visitors of the other three provinces.

The secretary said that POA also decided to pay Rs 10  million to the Punjab government to spend  it  on  developing  sports infrastructure.

The meeting also decided that it was mandatory for every association to hold a senior and a junior competition yearly, otherwise they would be dismembered.

He said that to improve the infrastructure a POA delegation met the  Punjab sports minister to apprise  him of the existing problems resulting due to delay in completion of the  Squash  Complex,  wrestling stadium and importing a tartan track for the Punjab Stadium.
