SIALKOT, July 30: The chief minister’s inquiry team formed to trace out the causes of the Sialkot jail tragedy continued its task for the fourth consecutive day on Wednesday.

According to official sources, the five-member inquiry team recorded the statement of Gujranwala Range DIG Malik Iqbal here at the Sialkot DPO’s office.

Meanwhile, Punjab IGP Syed Masood Shah’s special inquiry team recorded statements of the Gujranwala Range DIG, Sialkot DPO, SP headquarters and the jail authorities, besides examining the place of incident, the sources added.

All the inquiry teams have asked the people (having any information about the incident) to record their statements.

The Gujranwala SP (crime), Javed Islam, also started inquiry into the incident in the light of the FIR and “supplementary statement” filed by Sialkot’s Senior Civil Judge Muhammad Yousaf Ojla.

Meanwhile, the IGP’s another six-member inquiry team, headed by Kasur District Police Officer Ghulam Muhammad Kaliyar, will start a special probe, the sources told this correspondent.
