KARACHI, June 30: An anti-terrorism court reserved on Wednesday judgment in a case pertaining to the killing of a constable at the Saudabad police station.

Judge Haq Nawaz Baloch of the ATC-5 fixed Aug 2 for the pronouncement of the order after hearing final arguments from the defence and the prosecution lawyers.

Kashif Aziz alias Kashif Mota and Mohammed Zahir have been prosecuted for killing PC Mehboob Ali and injuring SI Abdur Rauf and head constable Mohammed Rafique on Jan 13 in the compound of the Saudabad police station.

Special public prosecutor Mazhar Qayyum examined in all 17 prosecution witnesses, five of them eye-witnesses, in the case.

According to prosecution, five suspects were spotted by a police party in a stolen car (AAB-588). The police party intercepted them and brought the suspects and their car to the police station.

As the suspects got down of the car, one of them hurled a fire-cracker. Then the suspects snatched an SMG from a constable and opened fire, killing PC Mehboob instantly and injuring two other policemen.

The five suspects then fled the scene. Later on April 3, the Orangi police arrested accused Kashif and Zahir, who were handed over to the Saudabad police for investigation and interrogation.

The prosecution, represented by special public prosecutor Syed Nadeem Hussain Shah, have, so far, examined 13 prosecution witnesses.

Zahid Rohila and Khawaja Sharful Islam appeared for accused Kashif and Zahir, respectively.
