The verdict on the much awaited Panamagate case will be given on April 20, confirmed the supplementary cause list released by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The verdict is scheduled to be issued at 2pm on April 20, which was also confirmed in a message by the public relations officer of the apex court.
Senior PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi termed it an important decision in the country’s history.
“After waiting 57 days, the decision has come. We hope the decision benefits the country,” said Qureshi.
Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, one of the petitioners in the case, referred to the announcement as a "historical verdict for the sub-continent".
"We will accept whatever verdict the great judges put forth," said Rashid, and added that further course of action will be discussed with the PTI chief on Wednesday.
"Justice will win and corruption will lose," said the AML chief.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan said on February 23, after both the defence and prosecution completed their arguments, that it would reserve its verdict on the Panamagate case and issue a detailed judgement.
Judgement in the case has not yet been given by the apex court.
The case pertains to investments allegedly made by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and members of his family in Mossack Fonseca, an offshore investment company.
The case filed by various petitioners — Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan, Jamaat-i-Islami emir Sirajul Haq and Sheikh Rashid Ahmed — essentially seeks disqualification of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif over his alleged misstatement in his address to the nation on April 5 and his speech before the National Assembly on May 16, 2016.
The petitioners claim that the prime minister lied about the investments made by his children in offshore companies, which led to the acquisition of four apartments in London’s upscale Park Lane neighbourhood.
The investment came to light as part of a massive leak of secret files from a Panamanian law firm that is a specialised consultant dealing in the setting up of offshore companies in tax havens.
According to documents available on the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) website, the PM’s children — Mariam, Hasan and Hussain — “were owners or had the right to authorise transactions for several companies”.

Let's not keep the cart before the horse. The nation should stay calm and embrace for any change this may bring. Nothing will change overnight. Things take time to change. If the verdict brings about significant changes, then the country should grab this opportunity and promote positive changes based on ethics, law, and morality. All the best to the entire nation!

Whatever the verdict may be, it will not change the suffering of general public in the country. Even if one or two leaders are punished somehow, it will not eradicate corruption or reform workings of many institutions to deliver services to tax payers. There is urgent need for major corrective actions to stop the misuse of power by many officials as well as the misuse practices in the recent past. That is the only way to put things in proper working order in the country.

The best judgment would be the one which could force the Govt & Establishment to do effective law making for future. No one including Politicians, Judges, Generals allowed to make offshore assets and have stakes out of country that impact national interests. In doing so the assurance is also mandatory for the continuity of Civilian democratic setup. At this point picking up one based on old past would be just like disturbing the political stability and opening up a Pandora box.

Such letters could become an in thing for Pakistanis, who would throng in millions to get hold of such letters to beat FBR, NAB, FIA etc. - a dreadful scenario, but could be the likely outcome if the Panama case becomes a victim of legal technicalities.

@Ali Ya lets. But to do that you need leaders who have made that as a priority,and that can not be until you have leaders who have a vested interest in fixing those systematic problems. Corrupt leaders DON'T have that interest. And thus this decision can be the ROOT to allow change which will lead to fixing those systematic problems. Anyone who can't see how corruption and other 'systematic problems' are related are looking at the world in a world and using tunnel vision.
This is an extremely important decision.

Panamagate verdict is not so much about Nawaz Sharif family's secret companies and bank accounts, but about political corruption in Pakistan. Politicians have abused the laws to loot and plunder the country and acquire luxury properties in Dubai and London.
They also have Swiss bank accounts with billions of stolen dollars. Supreme Court must give landmark decision that no politician or his family can be above the law. There must be full accountability. That's what the people of Pakistan demand.
