KARACHI, July 30: The Sindh Employees’ Social Security Institution (SESSI) disbursed a total amount of Rs2.254 million as cash benefits to secured workers and their dependents during the month of June 2003

According to the press release issued on Wednesday, this disbursement includes Rs1,007,000 as disablement pension or gratuity, Rs746,000 paid as sickness benefit, Rs326,000 as injury benefit, Rs141,000 as survivors’ pension, Rs20,000 as death grant or iddat benefit and Rs14,000 as maternity benefit.

The attendance of out-door patients at SESSI’s medical outlets stood at 148,000 during the month. As many as 9,407 cases were referred to specialists for consultation. As many as 233 major operations were performed in Social Security hospitals in June 2003.

A sum of Rs51.605 million was collected as social security contribution from 15,018 registered establishments employing 255,000 workers in June 2003.—PPI
