KARACHI, July 29: District Co-ordination Officer, Mir Hussain Ali, has directed the officers of the city government to co-ordinate with each other while shifting the residents of low-lying areas to safer places.

On Tuesday, he visited various towns of the city and monitored the work executed by the town municipal administrations to improve the situation emerging in the wake of recent rains.

Earlier, on Monday, he had held a meeting with Lyari Town Nazim, high officers of the National Highway Authority and officers of the city government, at Lyari Town office, during which the situation of storm water drains affected due to construction work at Northern Bypass was discussed.

The DCO asked the authorities concerned to co-ordinate with each other to ensure early draining of rainwater through storm water drains.

It was decided at the meeting that the Lyari Town, city government and the NHA would take measures, after co-ordinated planning, for resolving the problems.—PPI
