KARACHI, July 29: The Sindh Democratic Alliance on Tuesday urged the federal government to immediately announce a relief package for the province, saying that its economy had been devastated in the wake of the recent rains.

Speaking to the people affected by rains at various relief centres established at various schools in Aram Goth in Khokrapar, president of the SDA Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh appreciated the provincial government, saying that it was serving the cause of the masses in a true manner while the opposition was only issuing statment, adding that they (leaders of the opposition) were practically “hoodwinking” their constituents.

He also distributed relief material among the people displaced by rains.

Referring to massive losses suffered by the people in the Badin district in the wake of the unprecedented rain and flood- like situation, he said that the people of SIndh were indebted to Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Jamali and Chief Minister of Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Illahi for donating an amount of Rs50 million each for the victims of rains in SIndh.

He said that Sindh Chief Minister Sardar Ali Mohammad Khan Maher and other provincial ministers were touring the rain- affected areas.

Prominent among those who accompanied the SDA leader were the party’s general secretary Al Haj Shamimuddin, Dr Taj, Nadeem Qureshi and Ejaz Khokhar. — PPI
