PESHAWAR: Two civilian employees of the defence ministry-run Canteen Stores Department (CSD) sustained injuries when unidentified motorcyclists opened fire on their vehicle near Ring Road here on Thursday, police said.

The incident took place at Jamil Chowk area in the limits of Yakatoot police station at around 11:00am when three unidentified motorcyclists opened fire on their vehicle.

A police official said that the three attackers escaped on their bikes. He said that two civilian employees of CSD identified as Gul Marjan and Abdur Rehman sustained bullet wounds. The injured were taken to Lady Reading Hospital, where they are said to be in critical condition. The Counter Terrorism Department registered an FIR and has started investigations.

Separately, a military trainer plane crash-landed in Sra Khawara area of Mattani locality near the provincial capital on Thursday. However, there was no casualty. A police official told this correspondent that the pilot remained safe and the plane sustained minor damage.
