LAHORE: Hafiz Irfan Saeed and Mahnoor Shahzad won the men’s and women’s singles titles at the third PNSC All-Pakistan Ranking Badminton Tournament here on Friday.

Irfan of Wapda faced tough resistance from Murad Ali of NBP in the final before the former wrapped it up in three games — 21-19, 19-21, 21-16.

After a close fight in the first game, Irfan looked a bit defensive in the second as Murad fought back to take the game and make it 1-1. Irfan however recovered to bag the third game rather easily to complete the victory in the match lasting 45 minutes.

Mahnoor, also of Wapda, earned an easy 21-19, 21-13 victory against Palwasha Bashir in the women’s singles final.

Attique and Awais Zahid, also of Wapda, claimed the men’s doubles title, beating Irfan and Azeem (Wapda) 13-21, 21-18, 24-22.

The women’s doubles title went to the pair of Palwasha and Khizra who defeated the Mahnoor-Saima duo 21-16, 21-13 in the match that lasted 25 minutes.
