GUJRAT: The appointment of 23 senior medical officers in Gujrat’s health facilities has been finalised and a summary sent to the Punjab government for approval.

The hospitals will be allotted staff and budget on the basis of the data of the patients being treated there. The district administration has decided to assign the duties to the newly appointed doctors near the area of their domicile and vacant seats are fulfilled on priority at the THQ hospitals.

These decisions were made at a Gujrat health authority meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa on Wednesday.

The participants were told that 21 ambulances of the health department had been handed over to the Rescue 1122 for shifting the patients from one hospital to another. In order to improve the facilities at the basic health units, a total grant of Rs6.5 million had already been given through the health council.

VOTES: An awareness campaign will be started in Gujrat to encourage women, minorities and the disabled people to cast their votes.

The purpose of election commission is to register as many voters as possible. At a meeting, it was discussed that the members of a committee would visit less developed areas and educate people about the importance of casting their vote.

For the 2018 general elections, electoral lists are being prepared and this task would be completed before the announcement of polls, said a senior officer of the Regional Election Commission.

Workshop: A two-day interdisciplinary national workshop on ‘Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry’ commenced here at the Hafiz Hayat Campus of the University of Gujrat on Wednesday.
