Three, including minor girl, shot dead in suspected 'honour killing' in Khairpur

Three people lost their lives in an alleged case of honour killing in Khairpur late Friday night.

Akbar Ali Rauka allegedly opened fire on his 27-year-old sister Nazia Kausar, her 9-month-old daughter, and their house help, killing all three.

According to police, Akbar had suspected that his sister had illicit relations with the servant.

Peer Wasan Station House Officer Mansoor Ahmed Nizamani told Dawn that the accused and the murdered woman's husband were arrested during a raid. Nizamani said the main accused had confessed to the triple murder.

After a postmortem examination at Thari Mirwah Taluka hospital, the victims' bodies were handed over to their respective relatives.

The SHO also said a First Information Report was registered against the two accused on behalf of the state and that an investigation was underway.

@Nomi Goraya The only thing new is that now "honor killing" is being reported, unlike before when it was hushed up by the family and village dwellers. Sindh is no exception, all provinces have it. And with rapid population growth in the country, the more people you have, the more people you have committing crimes.

Where is the resident Oracle of Sindh, the leader of PPP, Mr. Zardari? Why is he not speaking out about such arcane traditions on his home turf? Or they just emerge from their Air-conditioned Mansions, to collect votes, make some money and fly to Dubai and London to enjoy the loot? Not a care in the world about the people who elect them??

Once again man has demonstrated his attitude towards woman.Women were always vulnerable to heinous crimes like honor killing. Actually the thing honor has no existence or any relation with women. From the available sources of the history it is a fact that women was always subjected to these kind of cruelties because she is physically weak.

Those who kill in the way of protecting their honor, are to blame in the first place. Why do they allow such situations to arise? Why they are not vigilant enough and allow their honor to slip? And, what was the proof of 9 month old child having damaged their honor? Did they conduct DNA test before killing the innocent child?
