SRINAGAR, July 26: Three militants and a police official were killed on Saturday in occupied Kashmir.
In Srinagar, a spokesman said police had seized a cache of powerful explosives that could have been used to blow up a vital tunnel. Abdul Rashid, a police official, was shot dead while on a routine patrol in Srinagar, a police spokesman said.
The killing sparked panic as police and paramilitary soldiers sealed the city’s Batamaloo area and paraded several men before informants stationed in cars, witnesses said. Several men were taken into custody. A little known group calling itself the Al Madina regiment claimed responsibility for the killing in a statement to local media.—AFP
