Pakistan Day celebrated across Sindh with traditional fervour

HYDERABAD: Flag-hoisting ceremonies were held in all district headquarters, while special programmes were held in schools and colleges and rallies were taken out by different governmental and non-governmental organisations across the province on Thursday to commemorate Pakistan Day.

The Cadet College Petaro organised a programme to mark the day in which cadets presented tableaus and national songs and delivered speeches on the struggle for Pakistan.

Sindh University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Fateh Mohammad Burfat, who was chief guest on the occasion, said that March 23 was important for the country as the Pakistan Resolution was passed on the day.

The country adopted its first constitution on March 23 in 1958 and the same day, changed its official name from Dominion of Pakistan to Islamic Republic of Pakistan, he said.

“Pakistan is a blessing and everybody will have to play his or her role in its progress and development,” he said.

Earlier, national anthem was played in the hall amid pin-drop silence followed by cadets paying tribute to Quaid-i-Azam and highlighting his vision for the nation and sacrifices of freedom fighters.

A programme was organised in government girls’ degree college in Kotri and a group of enthusiastic youths brought out a rally which terminated outside the press club.

SUKKUR: Like the rest of the country, Pakistan Day was celebrated with traditional fervour in Sukkur, Ghotki, Jacobabad and Kandhkot-Kashmore districts.

In Sukkur, the main event was held in Jinnah municipal stadium in which a large number of citizens, students of schools and colleges, officials of government and non-governmental organisations took part.

A contingent of police, scouts, Civil Defence and Shehri Razakars presented march past and salute to the national flag which was hoisted jointly by the mayor and deputy commissioner. Students sang national songs and presented tableaus.

Motorway Police organised flag-hoisting ceremony at their headquarters in which senior police officials took part. Tanzeem Fikro Nazar organised a programme on Pakistan Day at Sindh Islamic Centre.

In Jacobabad, a colourful event was organised by the district administration at Bahria College. A large number of students of schools and colleges, citizens, officials and employees of different government and private organisations attended the programme.

Students presented tableaus and danced to national songs. They also participated in speech competitions on Pakistan Day and gave a salute to the national flag.

In Mirpur Mathelo, Ghotki and Kandhkot, rallies were taken out by different organisations to celebrate the day.

MIRPURKHAS: Different organisations set up camps in the city and took out a ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ rally to celebrate the day. The leaders lamented that differences had been created in the nation and advised youths to work hard for the progress and prosperity of the nation.

BADIN: The Pakistan Day celebrations were held in all big and small towns of the district with traditional enthusiasm. Rallies were taken out in Badin, Matli, Tando Bago, Golarchi, Talhar, Khoski, Kario Ghanwar, Rajo Khanani, Tando Ghulam Ali, Kadhan, Nindo Shahar and other towns of the district.

MITHI: Different programmes were organised to mark Pakistan Day in Mithi, Islamkot, Chhachhro, Diplo, Nagarparkar, Chelhar, Kaloi and other towns of the district.

The participants and speakers highlighted the importance of the day and the great sacrifices rendered by people and leadership for the country’s independence.
