KARACHI, July 26: Chachu’s Dream, a thoroughbred four-year-old bay filly from Silver Lining out of Hello Venza, is fancied when the Summer Gymkhana Race Meeting begins on Sunday, at the Karachi Racecourse.

Owned by Shoukat Awan and trained by Mohammad Rafiq, the filly partnered by M. Yousuf, beat the raging favourite Strike The Gold by a short head three weeks ago, carrying nine stones and four pounds on her back.

On Sunday, Chachu’s Dream is a chicken in the weights carrying only seven stones and 12 pounds, lighter now by 20 pounds.

In the field of eight runners vying for the honours going over the sprinting distance of five furlongs is also Gambling Girl and Steal The Show, who finished second and third respectively in the Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup at the ending of last year.

But these two runners could be ruled out. Gambling Girl will be carrying 9-9 on her back, while Steal The Show once again gets a crushing penalty to carry 11 stones.

Shah Mardan Shah II, Pir Pagaro VII’s Fire Of Desire, although penalised to carry 9-5 on her back, has the class to grab the second spot, with Hamayun Mirza’s bay horse Bold Commander with a good track record, grabbing the third spot.

But one must not tend to stray away from the fact that Yahya Shahid’s bay colt Donatello carrying 8-4 on his back or his speedy stable companion Charkh Bareen carrying 8-13, could upset all calculations.

All in all eight events have been chalked up on the racing programme, all to be contested over five furlongs. The first race begins at 1.00 p.m.

In the opener, top weight Afzaal Prince, with a good lad astride, could bag the honours, followed home by Baby Tabassum and Bank Manager.

The bay gelding Just In Fun, finishing a good second behind Knight Gambler just three days ago, is on song to bag the second event, from Grey Boy and Little Sunny.

Power Plus could make amends for his last run and pick up the spoils, edging out last Wednesday’s winner Knight Gambler, with Mahasagar content with the third spot.

In the fourth race, the five-year-old chestnut Sovero is on the hat trick trail and has the speed to hold off the keen challenge put up by Visitor and Knight Fighter.

With 17 runners in the field for the fifth race of the afternoon, Raka Poshi is our fancy to win this race.

Canon Again, unlucky to be beaten by Chachu’s Dream in her last stride last time out, should resume her winning ways by getting the better of Sardar and Shane Bond in the sixth race.

Rahat Sultan’s seven-year-old bay horse Khas ul Khas with five straight winners under his belt will be going all out to complete a double hat trick for the proud owner. But if Humayun Mirza’s five-year-old bay mare Shab-e- Noor is ticking, it will surely be a different story to tell.

The game bay horse Roberto Carlos Fan trained by Moheyuddin, will be seeking the third spot from the speedy Guarantee.
