MINGORA, July 26: Girl students in Swat are facing difficulties in getting admission to intermediate classes in local colleges due to limited number of seats.

According to sources, hundreds of girl students have been refused admission while in one case girl students of science group have been forced to take classes in a boys college.

The sources said most of the colleges did not have sufficient staff or laboratories for science students.

They said that the Degree College Khwazakhela which was opened about three years ago, was still facing shortage of teaching staff.

Services of male teachers had been hired in the girls college, they added.

Some girl students of science group were attending their classes in the Government Boys Degree College in Matta, the sources said, adding that most of these students belonged to poor families and could not afford to move to other cities to get education.

The sources said if the government failed to appoint required staff and provide necessary facilities, hundreds of girl students would be deprived of education.
