KARACHI, July 26: The KESC will soon undertake a rehabilitation plan to improve distribution network in the Lyari Town which has been facing frequent power failures for quite some time, it is learnt here.

Under the plan, new PMTs and distribution lines will be installed in place of outdated network which is causing problems in supply system.

In this regard, a decision was taken at a recent meeting held here between the officials of the KESC and Lyari Town public representatives.

It is further learnt that the Nazim Town impressed upon the KESC officials to take urgent measures to being about an improvement in power supply situation in the town.

The meeting discussed public complaints regarding frequent power breakdowns in major part of the town. The situation has further aggravated due to intermittent rains which irked the residents in the affected areas.

It was also decided in the meeting that the Nazims of all the union councils of the town will submit a report of power supply position in the respective areas to the KESC officials and a copy will also be sent to Nazim of the town who will personally monitor the situation.

The residents of major parts of Lyari Town, including Baghdadi Union Council, particularly the adjoining areas of Telephone Exchange, Fidha Husain Shaikha Road, Old and New Kalri, Shah Beg Lane in Shah Beg Lane Union Council area, Daryabad and Memon Society have been subjected to long duration of power breakdowns.

The elected representatives of the area have repeatedly been urging the KESC officials to take effective measures for the redressal of public grievances.
