KHAR: The leaders of All Bajaur Political Parties Alliance on Saturday expressed dismay over the prolonged delay in establishment of two promised degree colleges in the agency and appealed to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor to order immediate execution of the projects.

Addressing a news conference at Bajaur Press Club, the alliance’s president Qari Abdul Majeed and other office-bearers, said the degree colleges in Salarzai and Brang tehsils were approved by former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmed Khan during his visit to the agency in December 2014, but construction work on these educational institutions was yet to start.

They said establishment of degree colleges had been the longstanding demand of the people as the areas had no higher education facility.

The alliance leaders accused the Fata secretariat and the political administration of delaying the projects for unknown reasons.

They claimed that land for these projects had already been donated by the local people.

T RAINING WORKSHOP: Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), Fata Secretariat, in collaboration with Unicef, organised a daylong training workshop on ‘reporting polio for journalists’ here the other day.

The purpose of the workshop was to train the local journalists on reporting poliorelated stories and to sensitise them about polio programme.

Assistant director EPI, Dr Inayatur Rehman, who inaugurated the workshop, said media had a major role to play in eradicating polio in Fata as they had contributed a lot in changing perceptions of people about the importance of vaccinating children.
