KARACHI, July 26: The City District Government Karachi (CDGK) is going to launch a public awareness campaign about road safety measures to prevent road accidents, which claim many human lives daily.
District Officer, Road Safety Education, CDGK, Zafar Ihsan, stated this at a seminar at the National Institute of Labour & Training, on Saturday to highlight traffic problems in the city, resulting in loss of human lives.
School-going children would be trained through video tapes, posters and booklets, carrying road safety massages to create awareness among them, he said.
Under the directives of City Nazim Naimatullah Khan, a summary had been sent to the Sindh government to revamp driver-training institute of defunct KTC to impart road safety education to drivers, under this campaign, the official said.
He claimed that an average of 600 persons were killed in the city due to road-related accidents every year.—PPI
