SHEIKHUPURA, July 25: The three-day celebrations of 205th Urs of Pir Waris Shah concluded on Friday in Jandiala Sher Khan, some 14 kilometres from here.

Punjab Culture Minister Shaukat Ali Bhatti laid the floral wreath in the presence of district government officials, journalists and elected representatives.

The shrine was profusely decorated. Followers of the saint from across the country and abroad thronged the shrine.

Circus, magic shows, death wells and cradles were installed around the shrine to add to the festivities.

The major event of the ceremony was a traditional Heer reciting competition. Scores of Heer reciters participated in the competition. District Nazim Chaudhry Tawakalullah Virk distributed prizes among the position holders late Friday night.

Two expatriates from Hong Kong Abid Mir and Shabbir Shah donated a piece of four acres of land adjacent to the shrine for the construction of Waris Shah complex. They also donated 1,000 religious and history books to library.
