ISLAMABAD July 25: A crucial meeting of the heads of six- member religio-political alliance, the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, is being held in Islamabad on Saturday evening.

Earlier in the day the MMA leaders will attend the all parties conference (APC) convened by the PML-N.

The MMA will discuss among other things the talks ahead with the government on Legal Framework Order. This meeting will be taking place amidst reports that the MMA had struck a secret deal with the government.

A source in the alliance said that the MMA leaders will deliberate on a host of issues including the impending mass contact drive by the alliance component parties. It will also discuss the issue of leader of opposition in National Assembly and the senate as the ARD has already decided to nominate Makhdoom Amin Fahim as its candidate in the lower house against Maulana Fazlur Rahman.

The JUI chief and MMA secretary-general Maulana Fazlur Rahman who has just returned from New Delhi’s visit will present his report to the MMA leadership and also explain his position on the issues on which he spoke and which generated a lot of controversy at home.

Sources claimed that the Maulana will be facing questioning by the MMA leaders on his reported utterances with regard to the Kashmir issue, Line of Control as well as suggestions on the so-called confederation between India and Pakistan.
