QUETTA: Inspector General of Balochistan Police Ahsan Mehboob has suspended a station house officer (SHO) and two constables for their failure to arrest four people involved in an attack on their rivals despite being present at the site.

The incident took place at Adalat Road Chowk here on Saturday afternoon. The attackers came there in a car, opened fire on three people and also stabbed them with knives before escaping. A group of policemen was present in the area when the incident took place.

Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri took notice of the incident and directed the IG to suspend the policemen for their failure to arrest the attackers.

“SHO Mukhtar Khan of the Civil Lines police station and two constables have been suspended with immediate effect. Police teams have started conducting raids to arrest the four accused identified with the help of footage of CCTV cameras and a video posted on a social media website,” the IG said in a press release.

Police identified the injured as Mohammad Dawood, Mohammad Zaman and Haji Abdul Raheel and said that the cause of the attack was a land dispute between the attackers and the injured. A case has been registered against one Mohammad Anwar and five others.
