Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday announced a special health package for the people of Thatta and Sujawal districts of Sindh.
Addressing a public gathering in Makli, Thatta, he said the grievances of the people of Thatta and Sujawal will be addressed.
The premier on the occasion announced the construction of a seawall in Thatta, Sujawal and Badin districts in order to help the locals stave of coastal erosion.
The prime minister also announced the construction of a 500-bed hospital in the area to provide the locals with healthcare facilities after the distribution of health cards in the districts of Thatta, Sujawal and Tando Mohammad Khan.
"Once the people get the health card, they will not have to go anywhere else for treatment. The locals will be able to avail free treatment at private and public hospitals near their homes."
"These problems should have been solved at the provincial level, but if they are not able to resolve it then we will solve them," the premier said.
Nawaz said the federal government will provide education, transport and health facilities to the locals.
Funds are being allocated for the construction of 50 kilometre long roads in Sujawal and Thatta, he added.
"We have started taking steps for the provision of gas in Sujawal, Thatta and adjacent areas. The project will cost nearly Rs1.1 billion," he added.
Water schemes to improve the availability of drinking water in the region were also promised by Nawaz.
Upon his arrival at Karachi's Old Terminal earlier in the day, the premier was greeted by Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
Last week, the prime minister had inaugurated the Kurram Tangi Dam in North Waziristan.

Health card hmmm that is a cheating of KPK Sehat Insaaf card and that too is not matching the limit set by kpk Rs 540,000 per anum per family, anyway cheating or not its good step for the people of Pakistan, however I know by heart that this will NOT BE IMPLEMENTED EVER. reason ? its Nawaz sharif who announced it

Nawaz Sharif is taking the initiative in a big way. He is doing what the Provincial govt has been claiming it will do without success. In doing so he is changing the dynamics of the local political scene and threatening to run the local politicians out of town.

@israr khan Good to know that there is good health system in KPK and I think to follow some good step is not cheating rather it is always constructive approach. About implementation to this point all distributed health cards are working at least can not comment about future

This type of fake speeches in public gatherings must stop now because in essence, they are all not only a wastage of already depleted resources but also an eye-wash, a gimmick or a funny drama, in order to deceive the poor, weak, feeble and trifle people of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for vested interests.
How can he promise new natural gas connections when the majority of the current gas connections have already run out of the gas or operating under heavy load shedding?
How can he say that the he will provide for new drinking water schemes when according to the latest report (read today's DAWN cartoons), 84 percent of the current drinking water available to the hapless and helpless people of the "land of the pure" is contaminated and unfit for drinking?

Mabrook (greetings in Arabic) Thatta residents! I congratulate those who will now be benefited with what PM has announced but I am shocked that Sindh government did not reciprocate to improve the plight of the people &thus explanation notice be isuued to governor and chief minister to explain how they dared to be so ignorant. BTW, may I suggest that PM Nawaz should ask his staff to tell him which districts have not been developed so that he embarks upon developing them to bring them at par with the rest areas. It reminds me he took cognizance of FATA and ordered huge development of the area. It goes without saying that Nawaz is the PM of Pakistan hence he cannot not ignore the backward areas of the country. Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Peshawar and Quetta have always been in focus by Nawaz and his predecessors and thus it is very ripe and high time that many interior districts of Sindh and Baluchistan in particular should be uplifted. Badin, Thata and Sijawal are among top in oil and gas production since a decade . Now PM is providing them this facility. Resources rich areas of Sindh are top on poverty index. Please give due share to locals from natural resources .

gud decision by PM for announcing health package for the people of thatta and sajwal but for badin PM sb may consider some package as there is reports that entire district may be prey of sea water and collapsed. Necessary orders may be passed so that district could be got saved as PPP govt wants that the district may be collapsed as it is native home town of its opponent dr. zulfikar mirza and the people of badin is also supporting to mriza and this thing do not like to ppp.

PM is paying back to Asif Zardari for not supporting PTI in the court against him on Panama Leak corruption case. The PPP-Sind government could have done this health package for entire Sind's poor population, but they were busy in corruption making illegal money for themselves.
