Qatar seeks Pakistan Army's cooperation in cyber security, defence production: ISPR

Chief of Army Staff Qamar Javed Bajwa on Tuesday assured Qatar that Pakistan will cooperate with country on cyber security, defence production and ease of travel, said the Inter-Services Public Relations in a statement.

The army chief, who is on an official visit to Qatar, thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani of Qatar for appreciating Pakistan Army's role in the ongoing fight against terrorism and assured him of all possible cooperation in "desired fields".

Qatar's premier also hailed the army's contributions towards establishing regional peace and lauded it for its professionalism. He showed interest for joint training and field exercises, expressing desire to learn from Pakistan Army's expertise in the security domain.

He said that people of Qatar greatly value the people of Pakistan and trust their time-tested commitment for working in Qatar and sought assistance for the upcoming Football World Cup in Qatar, including provision of manpower.

Aside from meeting Al Thani, Gen Bajwa also met Commander Qatar Emiri Land Forces, Major General Muhammed Ali Ghanim Al Ghanim and Commander Qatar Emiri Guard, Major General Hazza Bin Khalil Al Shahwani.

General Bajwa also visited Ahmed Bin Mohamed Military College where a Pakistani tri-services contingent of 166 members is imparting training. He also toured the Qatar Emiri Guard Headquarters and met Major General Hazza Bin khalid Al Shahwani.

Pakistan and Qatar must cooperate in every sector, including military training. Pakistan must extend assistance to the GCC. These brotherly countries can benefit from Pakistan's vast experience in counter-terrorism operations. Pakistan as a Muslim nuclear-weapon state, stands for "peace and friendship" with all.

This is problem more developed and economically strong countries want to learn from Pakistan Army due to their professionalism but what about trade with Pakistan . Pakistan should offer joint military exercises to other countries on the condition of economical ties as well .

Qatar is a good ally of Pakistan. Pakistan has done a lot for the GCC but they've done little for Kashmiri and Khalistan cause. To give, you must also get in return.

With their resources, the Qataris can always hire the best cyber security experts from the US and Europe. How good is cyber security and other security in itself, Pakistan begs the question - what are the Qataris thinking, and what is the real interest?

@DIL Why this statement came from ISPR instead of Qatar officials? India, Qatar inked five pacts on visas, cybersecurity, investments last Dec and it was announced by Qatar officials. But as usual these Arabs want only Pakistani soldiers but not ready to invest in infrastructure.

Qatar sells natural gas to atleast 10 different countries including India and the U.K. Why would they come to Pakistan for cyber security when they can get better results from countries they already have business relations with.

A week back I landed at Doha Airport for an onward connecting flight. Unfortunately, due to late arrival of my flight the onward connection was missed. Qatar Airways booked me on the next flight 14 hours later and offered me a hotel in the city. However, to my dismay informed me 15 minutes later that the immigration has refused me transit visa. I have spent long hours at airports around the world but this experience was painful since while I was waiting dozens of visas were issued to citizens of other countries. Is this how you treat the citizen of a brotherly country from whom you are seeking all kind of 'cooperation'?
