ISLAMABAD, Jan 2: No funds have been released for Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) in the current fiscal year for the uplift projects under Khushhal Pakistan Programme (KPP), a well-placed source in the ICT told Dawn on Wednesday.
The source said the federal government had allocated Rs111 million for various development projects under the KPP for the ICT. However, not even a single penny had been released in this regard, he added.
He said no development scheme had been launched in the ICT due to this situation despite passage of first six months of the fiscal year. He feared that the funds, allocated for the current year, would lapse as it seemed difficult that the projects would be completed within the stipulated time. Last year, Rs120 million were earmarked for Islamabad, but only Rs64 million were released, the source added.
He said the ICT had already sent a request to the ministry of interior to ask the finance ministry for the release of allocated development funds.
He said all provinces had received development funds under the KPP, but the capital had been deprived of the earmarked money.—Our Reporter
