RAWALPINDI, Dec 30: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Tuesday pledged to continue struggle for the revival of democracy and 1973 Constitution and fight against military dictators.
Speaking at a gathering arranged here in connection with 97th foundation day of All India Muslim League, PML-N chairman Raja Zafarul Haq said Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal had betrayed their voters after accepting Gen Musharraf as president and LFO as part of the Constitution. The MMA leaders have proved that they could never be pro-democracy or anti-establishment, he added.
The 140 million Pakistanis, he said, would never forgive the generals, who had distorted the Constitution and dethroned the elected governments. Gen Musharraf, he alleged, had sold out Kashmir, as he had withdrawn from the country’s principal stand on the issue.
The PML-N, he said, would be reorganized and Nawaz Sharif would come back, as people had seen the real face of the establishment.
MNA Maimona Hashmi said politics demanded sacrifices and the PML-N leaders were ready for this for the revival of democracy.
Military, she said, had hijacked the resources of the country and a few generals were ruling over the destiny of the whole nation.
“The generals never allowed the masses to see social and economic justice, civil society or the development of the institutions. Even our scientists and sovereignty is not safe.”
