HANGU, Dec 30: Three Afghan children were injured in landmine explosion near the Thall cantonment here on Monday.

The children were going home from school at the time of the incident.

Two of the injured boys, identified as Abdur Rehman and Usman, were shifted to a military hospital in Kohat, while the name of the third boy, who was admitted to a hospital in Thall, could not be ascertained.

The landmine was planted near the cantonment area where the troops had conducted exercises a couple of days ago.

Sources said that several landmines had been planted in the area, which were removed after the exercises were over. They suspected that the mine had not been cleared by the authorities.

Despite several attempts to contact, the Thall cantonment authorities could not be contacted.

However, officials of the Thall police station denied having any information about the occurrence of the incident in their jurisdiction.
