Pakistan and Iran on Sunday agreed to make joint efforts for eradication of terrorism, ensure legal movement and facilitate trade on the Pak-Iran border.

The two countries reviewed all affairs relating to the 900 kilometre long border at the 20th joint border commission meeting held in the Iranian city of Chah Bahar.

Pakistan also raised the issue of repeated mortar shelling on Pakistani territory by Iranian border guards, with the two countries agreeing in principle to make joint efforts to eradicate terrorism.

Chief Secretary Balochistan Saifullah Chatha led the Pakistani delegation whereas the Iranian delegation was led by the Governor of Sistan Balochistan.

The meeting also reviewed the decisions made during the 19th border commission meeting held in Quetta. The two countries decided to further boost coordination with regard to ensuring legal trade and movement of people across the Pak-Iran border.
