FAISALABAD: Police are on red alert after a terrorism threat letter issued a couple of days ago. The situation demands that police patrol roads and guard sensitive installations.

In Faisalabad, however, a police van (FDT-9797) was spotted transporting decorative plants and soil for the deputy commissioner (DC) office. The DC did not reply text messages for his version.

A police officer requesting anonymity told Dawn that the police had neither provided the vehicle to the DC nor such vehicle was registered with the Faisalabad police department. He said the blue revolving light and police stickers of ‘No Fear’ and ‘Elite Force’ were also being used illegally. He said they had received a terror threat that the city police officer and his office could be targeted by militants. The DC office is just few metres from the CPO office and movement of a vehicle with police logos could be a potential target.

He said the issue would be taken up with the authorities concerned so that the misuse of such vehicles could be controlled in the crucial time.
