AG Office stops CDG payment

Published December 30, 2003

LAHORE, Dec 29: The Accountant General’s Office has stopped all kinds of payments to the City District Government except salaries, pensions, provident fund and utility bills due to the failure of its officials to reconcile the accounts of financial year 2001-02 despite repeated reminders.

Disclosing this at a meeting of the review committee here on Monday, AG Wazir Qureshi said the reconciliation of the CDG accounts would be possible only after the receipt of prescribed certificates from the executive district officers concerned.

He regretted that the CDG officers paid no heed despite repeated reminders.

The CDG had requested the AG’s Office to continue making it advance payments and undertaken to provide the details of additional expenditure with supplementary budget but it had not only failed to include the additional expenditure in the supplementary budget but its officials had not reconciled the accounts also, he concluded.
