NICOSIA, Dec 28: Five Pakistanis face terrorism-related charges in Cyprus after being arrested on Sunday for allegedly lying to security personnel about why they were loitering suspiciously at the Paphos international airport.
Police said Tanveer Ahmed Chaudhry, 22; Mohammad Abdul Qayum, 22; Shahbaz Ali, 21; Mohammad Tahir Suleman, 22; and Mohammad Asif Nawaz, 23, faced charges of conspiracy to commit a crime relating to terrorism.
“The suspects have been placed in custody and will remain there until they appear in court for a remand hearing,” Paphos police told AFP.
Police said the suspects would appear in court for a remand hearing soon.
Paphos district court had initially released the suspects on Sunday, after police were forced to withdraw a remand request on technical grounds.
