KARACHI, Dec 28: Contaminated water is being supplied to a locality of Lyari Town, where residents have been

facing the chronic water shortage problem for quite some time.

The residents of Baghdadi Union Council said that perennial water shortage problem in the locality had not been resolved so far despite repeated requests made to the authorities concerned.

In a recent communication to the authorities, they reminded that an acute shortage of potable water persisted in the locality and promises made by them for restoring normal water supply on a permanent basis was yet to be fulfilled.

They said that contaminated water was being supplied to the locality after 3am in the late night with low pressure, which was unfit for human consumption. They added although their locality had been experiencing an acute water shortage problem for many years, officials of the water and sanitation department had not taken effective measures to restore normal supply.

Complaints of persisting water shortage have also been received from the residents of Shah Beg Lane Union Council. The affected areas included Ali Mohammad Mohalla and localities situated across Ahmed Shah Bukhari Road and Bundh Ghali.
