KARACHI, Dec 27: Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) has decided to send six boxers to Palawan, Philippines to participate in the first Olympic Games qualifying rounds to be held from Jan 12 to 18 next.

The boxers are: Nauman Karim, Mehrullah, Asghar Ali Shah, Sohail Ahmed, Shoaib Habib and Ahmed Ali. “Four of them, Meharulllah, Asghar, Sohail and Shoaib, who are in Russia getting special training there, will join the team later. The team leaves for Philippines on Jan 10 from Karachi,” said Shakeel Durrani, spokesman for PBF on Saturday.

“It’s a tentative team since we are still in the process of obtaining visas for the team members,” he said.

The officials, who will accompany the team include manager Zafar Zuberi, senior coach Reinaldo Alveraz, coach Muhammad Tariq and AIBA referee/judge Ghulam Hussain Patni.—PPI
