GWADAR: Three fishermen drowned and six were rescued after a boat carrying both Pakistani and Iranian nationals capsized in the deep sea near the Coast of Oman.

According to reports that reached here late on Sunday evening, the body of one of the drowned fishermen has been recovered.

The incident took place near Ras al Hadd village in Ash Sharqiyah district of Oman when the boat was struck by strong winds.

The fishing boat, named Khairul Bhar, left Pishukan village in Gwadar district with nine people a few days ago.

The recovered body is of Manzoor Ahmed who hailed from Pishukan.

The missing men were identified as Murad Bakhsh (also from Pishukan) and Shafi, an Iranian.

The fishermen who have been rescued are Elahi Bux, Khalid, Nasir, Wahid and Peeral, who hail from Pishukan, Sur and Peso areas of Gwadar, and Iqbal, an Iranian who was captain of the boat.

They were rescued by another boat passing nearby.

The assistant commissioner of Gwadar confirmed the incident.
