Two die in van-truck collision

GUJRANWALA, Dec 26: A van driver and the security guard of a local college were killed while a director and an accountant sustained critical injuries in an accident on the GT Road here on Friday.

Director Rana Latif, accountant Nasir Hamid, driver Abdul Hameed and guard Waja Khan were on their way to Khushab by their van to participate in chehlum of one of their colleagues.

Near railway crossing on GT Road, their vehicle collided headon with a speeding truck. The driver and the guard died instantly while the other two sustained serious injuries.

They were rushed to the local DHQ Hospital in critical condition.

CONDEMNED: PML-Q City president Alhaj Muhammad Aslam, City Nazim Babu Javed Ahmed and other politicians, including MNAs, MPAs and nazims, have strongly condemned suicide attack on president Pervez Musharraf in Rawalpindi.

In their separate statements issued here on Friday, they said that extremists and terrorists wanted to destabilize the peaceful atmosphere of the country.

They, however, expressed their grieve over the loss of precious lives in the suicide attack and urged the government to pay compensation to the heirs of victims.
