KARACHI, Dec 22: The London-based chief of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Altaf Hussain, has said that politics without commitment to mankind was a sheer exploitation, deceit and fraud.
Mr Hussain said this on Monday while addressing a meeting of the Khidmat-i-Khalq Foundation, which added a new medical centre and maternity home to its Pak Colony premises.
Political parties, especially with religious orientation, sprout like mushrooms during electioneering, promise moon to the electorate, and vanish in thin air after the polls, he said.
Recalling the history of Pakistan in this context, he felt gratified that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement had stuck to its motto of bringing relief and succour to victims of natural calamities, and ensuring medical cover and help to the sick and the needy. Its welfare services operate throughout the year, whether in power or not, he added.
Earlier, the president of the foundation, Sheikh Liaquat Hussain, announced that lease had been secured for a plot of land for the proposed Nazeer Hussain University in Karachi, but as an immediate step, two storeys were being added to the foundation building.
