KARACHI, Dec 22: Almost the entire Aga Khan-III Road, parts of M.A. Jinnah and Nishtar roads on Monday witnessed heavy traffic jam following an accident that took place at Aga Khan-III Road near police headquarters.

Traffic proceeding to and from Nishtar Road and M.A. Jinnah via Aga Khan-III Road came to a standstill when a long trailer hit a tree and stuck up on the road.

The most pathetic sight seen at the Aga Khan-III Road was that of two ambulances, which were stuck in the traffic jam near Makki Masjid and Federal Government Officers Residence (GOR), Garden. Even the two traffic officials, who were trying their best to manage the unruly traffic near GOR could not provide a clear way to the ambulances. It may be mentioned here that a number of hospitals and clinics, including Ankle Saria, Holy Family and OMI, are situated on the road.

Moreover, it was amazing to note that the traffic police did not send reinforcement to manage the unruly traffic although police headquarters is situated on the road.

Getting fed up with the delay in clearing the traffic jam, passengers preferred to walk instead of waiting in the stranded buses and minibuses.

As usual the pedestrians suffered the most, particularly near Makki Masjid, as they had no choice but to walk in a zig-zag manner amidst vehicular traffic owing to illegal parking of vehicles on the nearby pavement.
