Wajahat on rampage

RAWALPINDI, Dec 21: Wajahatullah Wasti smashed a sizzling 112 on Sunday as Allied Bank went free-wheeling to a 117-run victory over Karachi Port Trust (KPT) in a Patron’s Cup Pool ‘B’ match at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

The ex-Test opener hit 10 stylish boundaries and a six as his side posted 295 for eight, a total in which Farhan Adil chipped in with 65 runs. Three of the wickets went to Adeel Malik while Rashid Hanif took two.

In reply, KPT could manage just 178 for eight before running out of overs. The only significant contribution came from Iqbal Sheikh who scored a half century. Ijaz Ahmed Junior captured three for 38.

Former Pakistan captain Waqar Younis, making his debut for the bankers, bowled a five-over opening spell during which he had Fahadullah caught behind for two.
