PIA fly high

HYDERABAD, Dec 21: National one-day champions PIA made it three out of three when they trounced last season’s runners-up Wapda by eight wickets in the Patron’s Cup Pool ‘A’ tie at Niaz Stadium on Sunday.

After being asked to bat first by PIA skipper Asif Mujtaba, Wapda lost wickets at regular intervals before the last one fell at the total of 138 in the 37th over.

Medium-pacers Aizaz bin Ilyas and Ali Gohar claimed four and three wickets, respectively. Off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq took two for five in three overs.

Ashraf Ali then guided PIA home with an undefeated 57 off 51 balls, hitting three fours and one six, while adding 70 for the second wicket with Ghulam Ali (36).
